Here's a picture of my Aunt Regina. My mom said my gr-grandmother Malinda Keasey Hudson looked like her, and I've kind of inferred by deduction that she took after the Keasey side.

She kind of reminds me of TechTeach. So, Cindy, why don't you post something so we can see you two side by side?

Linda:

Well, yes, she does kind of look like me. I read somewhere that my Hustons were also listed in PA as Hudson. Do your Hudsons come from the same PA area?

The Hudsons came out of Maryland, (which is still near se PA) into Ohio, then onto WI. The Keasey's were in PA. There's a recent thread we did where we found another near miss in our family locations. I need to refer back to that, but the Nyquil is kicking in.

Linda:
So far as I know, I have no Keaseys. My Sinkey/Potters come from the Huntington area (via Rockbridge, VA for some of them), the Greens come from Berkeley County, WVA, and I think Bill found the right Andrew Huston in Huntington. There are some from MD too (I think the Greens were there for a while.), but they all might have moved a bit. The Ralston/McLanes were from Beaver and Westmoreland Counties. All but the last first went to Licking County, OH and then Iowa in 1840. (Ever notice how the names are the same? There is a Licking River in KY, where a few came from, in PA, and in OH, as well as a Sinking Spring in Rockbridge and in the Huntington area. It used to be Shikelemey's (sp) spring. Kind of like my Sinkey name, isn't it? This family lived in both places. I also found a Monacan village name similar to my Ricketts.) Ralstons followed to Iowa in 1852.
Here's a picture if it uploads, of my ggrandmother, Mary Lovina Potter, whose mother was a Sinkey and grandparents were Green and Huston. Add a smile (she did not much - her family did not treat her well) and see if she looks like your aunt.

Well, here's another near miss. Aunt Regina married a fellow named Tommy Potter.

I would bet that if we follow those lines, we meet. Too much coincidence not to. The only Tom Potter on my genealogy, however, is Rev. Thomas Potter who officiated at a Sinkey funeral. The Potter line has many ministers. My William Potter is listed by the DAR. He lied about his age and fought on the VA line, according to Bill. I am not sure how these groups connected, except that there were Potters around the Sinkeys (and Harris) in the Huntington area. I do find a Harris marrying a line not directly connected to mine.

Whatever happened to that picture you were going to post? If it didn't work, send it to me as an attachment and I'll compress it so it will work.

I sent something but maybe it bounced back to me and I never tried another version that was compressed enough to email. I will try again when I am at that computer.
I have been conversing online with a Sinkey cousin who would want to see it too. Turns out, according to her, that her Sinkeys have the Blackfoot ID too, just like my McLane. I invited her to join us. I know she lurked here, maybe is even as I type, so I will get this picture posted and tell her to lurk again. This lady's mother was a Sinkey.

Okay, I am lurking, my Father is Sinkey not my Mom. Have been talking to Teachtech and she shared this site with me. This is all new to me so please bear with me. Will try to share any info I have that's of use to anyone.

Hi cousin.
You do know, I hope, that lurker is the technology term for someone who reads postings without posting themselves. (Remember, I teach technology.) You are now officially NOT a lurker. Welcome aboard.

Oops, Deb, sorry. Having a brain cramp at 1 A.M. in the morning. I knew it was your father, not your mother.

I've added the picture, above, of TechTeach's grandmother.

You mentioned that there's a Sinkey creek that was originally Shickellamy's Creek. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned here that Shickellamy's second wife was Tutelo. He died a year or so after they married and she remarried. That was in Pennsylvania, I believe at what is now known as Sunbury.

She was actually my great-great-grandmother. Looks like the Blackfoot ID might have been in her family although she was daughter-in-law of the one who I know has the ID. She was a Potter and Sinkey daughter and married a Ralston. My great aunt's description of her is that she was a sad person who had blue-black hair that she wore in two braids wrapped around her head. Her husband's picture was posted earlier.
