Hey everyone,
My name is Shannon Rizzotto, formerly Trombley. I am looking for my family lines.
My mother has told me though our contact is thin that I am a "Black Foot " Indian but she never gave me any other info.
Her name is Leesa Bigrow, Living in Vermont. Her Fathers name was George Bigrow and was 100% Blackfoot.
He died before I ever got to meet him.
I currently live in Niagara Falls NY but I was born In Tupper Lake NY in the Adirondak Mountains.
If anyone could point me in a direction to trace my roots that would be great as I am a bit lost and know nothing of my family.
Thanks
Bill Childs

Hi,
Maybe this will help get you started:
On the 1930 Franklin Co., NY Census, Altimont Twp., Tupper Lake Village, District 1, page 3B, dated April 20, "Georgie E." Bigrow is listed as 3 yrs old - is he the George Bigrow that was born 11 Oct 1926 ?
Listed on that Census :
Malvina M. Bigrow, Head, 43, widowed, marr'd @ 19, born NY.
Victor J., son, 23, NY
William F., son, 19, NY
Leon D., son, 18, NY
Raymond J., son, 15, NY
Margaret C., dau., 13, NY
Bernard F., son, 11, NY
Albert C., son, 8, NY
Bennie L., son, 6, NY
Georgie E., son, 3, NY
David Betters, father, 73, widowed, NY.
.................................................. .............
The parents of all of the above were shown as also born in NY.
.................................................. .............
1920 Franklin Co., NY Census, District 68, Altamont Twp, p.16A, 17 Jan :
John Bigrow, Head, 39, NY
Malvina, wife, 33, NY
Victor, son, 12, NY
William, son, 9, NY
Leon, son, 7, NY
Raymond, son, 5, NY
Margarita, dau., 3, NY
Bernard, son, 1, NY
............
John Bigrow's parents are listed as born in Canada and spoke French. There is one Bigrow family in Argentueil, Quebec, Canada in 1920.
.................................................. ................
1910 Franklin Co., NY Census, District 70, Altimont Twp, Tupper Lake Village, p.10A, 22 April :
John Bigrow, Head, 29, (born) Can.
Malvina, wife, 23, NY
Victor, son, 3, NY.
...........
John's parents are shown as born in Canada, spoke English - minor contradictions are usually found on census records.
John's occupation is "Laborer - Mill"
John & Malvina are listed as married for 4 years.
.................................................. ................
A connecting family tree is posted for Alice ("Leesa"?) Brier, who marr'd George Edward Bigrow 1953 in Tupper Lake, NY, according to Norm Brunette - his email address is: norm@scarolina.com
You might want to contact him for additional info.
.............
In 1910 Franklin Co., NY, are Joseph Trembley, b.abt. 1878 Canada and James Trembley, b.abt. 1880 Canada - are those your Trombley's?

If you're family traces from Canada, then it's more likely you're connected to the "Regular" Algonquin Blackfoot , though my knowledge of eastern Canadian Blackfoot is slim to none.
