This was brought to my attention:

I am certain I am not the only person whose early ancestors lived in VA and I thought perhaps, someone might want to know of this legislation.

VIRGINIA SENATE BILL 818—-DESTRUCTION OF WILL FILES.

Brenda,
Thank you for the information on Senate Bill 818. Do you know if the bill has passed in the Rules Committee yet? Is it too late to speak on this issue, or is there still time for the public to speak out against it? Please let me know, as soon as possible. So I can set up a few meetings with Senators. This Bill is a slap in the face to Virginians, & all ancestors of those that took the time to painstakingly write out a Will. If this seems like it will pass, I will personally insist that my families original wills be handed over to me. I will then see to it, that they are preserved in the Virginia Historical Resourses Department. This is a sneaky way to buy up land for futher development, without having to deal with the legal issue of heirs to certain properties. This injustice must be stopped in it's tracks. I just hope that people will see the importance of this issue, as you & I do.
Sincerely,
Coheeslady

Since it is this month's issue I would not think that it has been passed as yet.

To All,
As I type this post, the House of Delegates Committee On: Courts of Justice, are still meeting. So I don't know if Senate Bill 818 passed. I do know that the many emails that were sent last night, were read by the House members on the Committee. We can only hope that they will vote Nay. However, if the Bill passes in the sub-committee, it still has to go to the full committee. So, there is still time for those of you that haven't sent an email, or called to voice your objection to this Bill. I was told, that the full committee will meet on Tuesday morning at 8:30 am, in the General Assembly Building, (GAB building) in Richmond. I don't know whether I will make it, but I am doing my best via email & phone. Thank you again Brenda for bringing this to my attention, as this issue is an important that should not become a law. Every phone call & email to the members of the House of Delegates counts, they do listen.
Sincerely,
Coheeslady

Hello All,

Senate Bill 818, is still in the House of Delegates Sub Committee, see previous post for complete details. Lucky for those of us that are against this Bill, it hasn't been voted on yet. As the many emails did make a difference. Please don't stop sending emails to the Delegates as this isn't over yet. :)
Sincerely,
Coheelady
