As a child I was told that Johnny Cash was a distant cousin of ours. Since my grandmother's maiden name was Cash, I believed it to be true. Then one year my great-Aunt said, "We are not kin to Johnny". I couldn't understand why she changed her tune so quickly. Years later I found out that she thought he had gone to prison, so she didn't want anyone thinking she was related.
