Looking for my roots in Elon

Hi,

I haven't been on this site in about a year. I got very discouraged by the negative reception that people of mixed heritage receive by the members of this site and stopped communicating. But, the search in my heart continues. Does anyone know anything about the Indians who lived in Elon, VA, or Madison County, VA? My granparents are form that region. If so, please pass it on.

I am surprised to hear that you were made to feel that way, since there is virtually no one here who is not a mixed blood. Most, including me, have only a fraction of Indian blood. I am sorry if someone was posturing otherwise. Hopefully, it was only a miscommunication. No one here is EVER to feel that they are disrespected over the amount of Indian ancestry they possess. Our position is that those Ancestors who are so outnumbered and upstaged deserve to be remembered and honored all the more. If you could direct me, by email, to those posts which gave you that impression, I would greatly appreciate it. Please do so by private email, as it is also my position that no one is to be publically humiliated or criticized here. Please accept my apology that you were not made to feel welcome.

Elon,VA is in Amherst CO,approx 6MI west of Madison Heights.(Near Lynchburg)

BTW,the Monacans had their powwow 2 weeks ago at Elon.I was there;
had a good time.

Another tribe associated with Amherst CO is the United Cherokee Indian Tribe of VA (UCITOVA).Their mailing address is in Madison Heights,VA.
