Anyone here have a Littleberry(Little or Berry)Collins in your files. He is from the Brunswisk Co.,Va. or Randolph Co.,N.C. area.I believe he was bornin the late 1700's.Had at least one son,William Collins b.abt.1813.
I've found Little in the Brunswick census for 1810,20&30.Then I've found a Little in Randolph Co.,N.C.IN THE 1840 & 50 census.Don't know if they're the same person.
I'm about positive that one or both is my 3rd gr-grandfather.Any help appreciated.

Hello, Very interesting post......I have a Berry Collins in my line born to Riley Collins and Elizabeth Ingles , of Indian Creek, Wise Co., VA.
Now family oral history states that Riley/Berry was Cherokee Indian and that a Big Berry lived " across the hollar" so that my Berry was called " Little Berry" , however my Berry was born 1850 - 1855 and the Big Berry was born 1830 something.
It turns out that they are related, although my oral family history didn't acknowledge that.
This line is the Griffin Collins line. But, it is interesting to hear the name Littleberry Collins used even earlier then these two Berry's.
My Uncle, still living at Indian Creek , VA in an old log cabin that belonged to Berry and Emily Collins, states that Berry is an Indian name , thus named after berries on plants? Who knows?
Anyway , interesting thoughts and questions.

DCMolder,
"Littleberry" was a surname in early colonial Virginia, so as
a 'name', "Littleberry" would probably be his middle name, carrying down a family surname.
Do you have any additional info on your Littleberry Collins or any of his children or grandchildren other than a William?
While you may have sufficient reason to key-in on one person, when looking for only one person, it is helpful for others to have all the information you have available on his family, as well as children and grandchildren, for them to be able to help you.
