I'm looking for information about the Haliwa Saponi. My ggggg grandfather Benjamin Richardson claimed to be Haliwa Saponi. I know his second wife Mary (Bass) Richardson was of Nansemond descent from John Bass and Keziah Elizabeth Tucker(Full blood Nansemond. I'm not sure about the Tuscarora, and Tutelo connections. The Haliwa Saponi website mentions a few friendly Saponi helped Col. William Eaton's regiment from Granville County, NC to Fort Christianna in Virginia. I managed to get a list of Col. Eaton's soldiers and came across William Richardson as a soldier. I know Benjamin and William Richardson were brothers and lived near each other. I know Benjamin Richardson was listed in William Yarbrough's will along with William Eaton, William Brinkley, and Capt. Jo. Jon Williams, names that were also listed in the Regiment. Any further ideas.

Where did you find that account about the Saponi guiding the soldiers from Granville to Brunswick counties? I'd like to look it up.
You do have names common to Indian families in that area. It does get hard to tell just what tribe people were from. I think the populations were small enough, cultural differences had broken down with acculturation and there were a lot of intermarriages, so that it can be pretty arbitrary saying who was who.
Maybe you can find out exactly what your ancestor said. If he's that many greats I don't believe he could have said Haliwa, since to my knowledge that term was coined in the last forty or so years, maybe less. (It's short for Halifax and Warren counties.) Maybe digging into that source will turn up something useful.

My mother is a Richardson. My maternal grandmother is a Lee, but related to Mills, Lynch, Silver. My maternal grandfather is a Richardson on both his mother and father's side. Nick Richardson, Jr. is my grandfather, he was married to Nannie Bell Lee. Nick Jr. is the son of Nick Richardson Sr. and Lizzie Richardson. Nick Sr. is the son of Reese Richardson who lived in Bethlehem in Warren County, NC. Reese donated land for a Indian school to be built in the late 1800's. It was the first school in the area. It later became the Haliwa Saponi Indian school. Reese filed an application to the Dawes Commission with his brothers Mason, Hardie, and Alfred, his sister Emily, his cousin Darcus Ann, and his aunt Louisa Richardson in 1896.

Haliwa (Halifax and Warren Counties) the tribe had members in both counties, thus Haliwa. Benjamin, William, and John Richardson considered themselves Saponi back in the mid to late 1700's.

what additional info do you need?
it sounds like you have very firm material.
i would be more than happy to add as needed - i count my "extended family" from hollister and could tell you about lynches, silvers, ansteads, hedgepeths, and richardsons (which are two families supposedly) from eitherside of one creek.
while the tribe is "saponi" additional tribal origins including the nansemonds, tuscaroras and enos etc.

Were does the Tuscarora, Tutelo, and Enos links come in. From what I know my ancestor Benjamin Richardson was Saponi, and his second wife was of Nansemond descent. I don't know where the others come into play. Were they all at Fort Christianna? Did any of them serve as scouts for Col. William Eaton from Granville Co., NC? When did they settle in the Meadows?

By the time your ancestors lived, the Tutelo Eno and Saponi were all called Saponi by the whites. They were all at Fort Christanna together. The Tuscarora were still enemies at that point, early 1700s, but by the time your people were living, it was hard to tell who was who, (at least from this distance it's hard to tell) people were merging so much.
I don't know about your other questions.
