Hi All, my greatgrandfather,
James Cheek was born 1876 on a reservation in N.Carolina. I have recently started researching this so if anyone can offer any advice I would appreciate it.

I think the only "official" reservation in NC at that time was the Cherokee, though oftentimes these reports can be a bit distorted. It may turn out that the "reservation" was a strongly Indian community, something of that nature. I don't recognize the name.

shadow,
do you have any idea what county this "reservation" was in? If not, where were they in the following years? Eastern, Piedmont, Western? Cheek is not a name that I am familiar with either. Welcome aboard and the best of luck in your endeavor of tracing your roots.

Shadow,
I'm not sure where your looking for Cheek's but there are some in Franklin, and Union County Ohio. I went to school with them, their mom, Roxie Cheek was friends to my grandmother. She walked on some years back but her son Steve still lives local. I remember them pretty well. One recently got married and is a Doctor in Cincinnait, Ohio.

My line of CHEEK'S begins with my great grandmother on my mother's side. Her name was Mary B. CHEEK (HARRIS), this family goes from Marion Co. AR, to Forsythe Co., Georgia and into Spartanburg Co., South Carolina. If you think any of this might relate, please email me.
