There has been some question raised about whether or not it is appropriate for us to be accessing these cultural items, the language and the dances and songs. We have gone to the top of the chain as to who would have authority over this. He's spent a fair amount of time with our representative and his remark was 'desparate times call for desparate measures.' There is little being done by anyone to keep these things alive. We have been given permission to do so. The few faith keepers who have been keeping some of the songs going are old and failing, there are only a few phrases of Tutelo that are used in some ceremonies. Other than that the language has die out.
