Has anyone information regarding the name Meherrin being spelled as Herrin or Herring? I just realized that the Herrins were a line of Shifletts and the name was spelled several ways, and that Herring or Herrin could be an adulteration of Meherrin.

Any ideas?

Herrin is actually a known Roma name especially in South Carolina.
