I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they have heard anything about Brenda Collins Dillon? I was at the Mormon site and saw where a Brenda Dillon from lakeville Mass. had passed away last Dec, It stated she was born 194? and died 200?.

I read something similar that came through an email...but have been waiting confirmation. It seems it would have taken a mighty force to keep her from genealogy. I would have liked to have met her; our famililes lived very close n Nicholas Co. :(

Thank you for the posts. I am thankful that I was able to talk to her the last 3 years. She was a wonderful person and a blessing to me. And I am proud to have been able to call her my cousin.

I did try to find her last year with info that I had, but, all the emails came back. I would have loved to take her to the Flat River area and show her where old Tom Collins had roamed.

Yes, we shall all miss her terribly. She was a funny and gracious lady. May you rest in peace, Brenda....you had a long, hard battle. May you take your place with the ancestors....and help us in our quest for answers.

Laurie,

Thanks for posting...I have been wondering for some time and am sorry to hear it is true. She is now at peace and resting with the ancestors...she finally has "the answers to her questions." She is now walking with family she worked so hard to find. I am sorry I never had the chance to meet her personally, but feel as if I know her somewhat through what she left behind.

I had heard about Brenda Dillon Collins on one of my Melungeon lists, and it appears to be true, unfortunately. I second Beeleaf's sentiments.

Well, her site will be up as long as Saponitown is, at least. If you all haven't been to her site, it has a permanent place on our first page:

If anybody has time, please do a search on Brenda Collins Dillon and see if there are any items she published that are not on her site here. We should make sure it's all here

I read her postings alot. She was a very giving person.

I think she should have a separate place on the Saponitown Forum
where future members can read eveything that she has said.

I think this would be a wonderful idea...are you thinking of a separate forum for her material??

Yes

That is what I thought would be a nice memorial
to Brenda for all her work.

This would be wonderful...Linda, would know whether or not this would be possible here.

My aunts grew up on Fenwick Mountain (where Brenda grew up0; they still live in Nicholas County. I do wish I would have had the pleasure of spending time with her. She seemed to have a depth to her spirit, which evinced itself in her research/writing.:)

I am so sad about Brenda she was such a wonderful lady. I had been missing her posts. We truly miss people that we have contacted, cherished, appreciated and loved. And, she was loved very much here at Saponitown.

I have only been a member of Saponi Town for a short time now, but many of the first posts I read were from Brenda. I have read many of her posts and she will be a great loss to Saponi Town. I have recently found out that I have Collins in my line also and now I find out she has passed. I wish I could've had the opportunity to coorespond with her. She will be missed. God Speed.

A Sioux Prayer

Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds,
Whose breath gives life to the world, hear me,
I come to you as one of your many children,
I am small and weak,
I need your streangth and wisdom,
Make me ever ready to come to you with straight eyes,
So that when life fades as the fading sunset,
May my spirit come to you without shame.

I think Brenda is following you on your path
and guiding you, too.
