Acock Family

I am descended from Francis Acock (1728-1766) who married Mary Marshall (b. 1730). They lived in Bute (later Warren) County, NC. I recently read an article by Richard Haithcock indicating that Francis Acock and that family line was Native American. Any information about the North Carolina Acock family or suggestions about where to search would be greatly appreciated.
Robert Eaton Acock, the son of Francis, m. Mary Blanchett and later moved from Bute County to Kentucky. I am descended through that line. Thanks.
