Hello all,
I was told as a child that we were Cherokee, all surnames below are from Virginia. I never doubted this, but wished I had asked questions. My maternal grandmother was a Cash, prior to marriage. This surname appears twice on Dr. W.A. Plecker's List. Once in Amherst & in Rockbridge co, Virginia.
If there is someone that is researching the same family, please post a reply.
My family surnames, just on the maternal side are: CASH, PATTERSON, WALKER, TURNER, ARTHUR, NORTH, GARRETT,AYERS, AGEE, BONDURANT, CHASTAIN, FORD, THOMAS & SKINNER. All family members were listed as white. My Cash ancestor's were of Westmoreland co., then they moved to Stafford co. town of Aquia, meaning land of many seagulls. They followed the river into the mountains, other counties are Rockbridge, Amherst, Buckingham & Nelson counties. Thanks.
Sincerely,
CoheeLady
