My Grandma always said that Her mother Was a Cherokee Indian. But I have neve Found anything to support this info. I was poking around today and Found a Blackfeet land Patent for a Josephine Ford in 1908 That was My G-grandmother Name Before Marriage Listed with her was Also Arthur,Alferie,Daniel,James,Lillian,Millie,& Nelson Ford. I'm Thinking this was her because My Grandmother Name was Lillian & Family Names Normally Carried down the lines.Anyway My Grandma was born and Raised in Anniston Alabama In every Census record that i have found them in It list both of Josephine Parents as Born in AL. I was just Wondering if the Ford May be included in this Tribe.
Thanks Heather

Wouldn't that land patent have been for the regular Montana Blackfoot? Where did you see that? The gov't never had any dealings with anyone in the southeast they referred to as Blackfoot. The name in this case seems to be something people used amongst themselves. So I don't see how there would be any land patents for them. Haven't seen the name Ford, either. But if you're family's ID is of Blackfoot and they're southeast, I would still keep an open mind that they may be refugee from the NC/VA Piedmont. Good luck.

Hello,
The surname of Ford which is one surname in my family is known to be French Hugenot. The Fords may however only married french hugenot's. I have them back as far as the 1700's, in Va., the name is also spelled Faure & Fore. I have had a strong feeling that the Fords are not French, except for by marriage.

Very Interesting, I have also heard Ford as a surname for NDN folks but no tribe comes to mind. The Ford family as far as the Car family has not been a very generouse family when it came to other races, until modern times, the company itself has been very diverse but as far as the family they ran a very racist secret society at University of michigan for many many years called Michagamua, it wa ssome of my friends that actually put a hault to their activities 2 years ago Gerald Ford had once been a member and the Ford family was involved with the funding supposedly, you can read about it if you do a search for it online. Also resently on the discovery channel maybe the history channel there was a documentary on the Black Legion? I think it was called, they were a spin off of the KKK but more dangerous and fanatical, they thought the KKK was too soft but at one time in the 1900s they were being funded by the Ford family and there was involvment along with many other high ranking community officials.
But anyway I also have heard there were French Hugenots in my family too around the same time of my NDN Family, soo yea I have tried checking that avenue out and have come up with nothing. I am thinking the same might not have been French Hugenots or if they were had made a relationship with my NDN family to. My father says that he remembers his Great Grandmother who was (NDN and Hugenot) making her own soap from scratch.

Hello Mrspatino!
Enjoyed your reply regarding the Ford family. It was very informative, thanks. http://winwinworld.net/SaponiForum/UBB/smile.gif Are you in Virginia? As I live not to far from the original Hugenot's land, that they took from the Monacan Indians. They came here believing that this track of land was theirs, as the King of England "gave it to them", of course they found out that the land was already occupied. Funny how a King can give away land he's never even seen & that is already the home to many! My Ford ancestor goes back to the 1700's, so I'm not of the rich Ford family. There was only one Ford marriage into my family in the 1700's. If you are of French Hugenot descent than we must be related. http://winwinworld.net/SaponiForum/UBB/smile.gif If you look at the genealogy forum here, you will find my post, regarding my family names. Take care.
Sincerely,
CoheeLady
