I have known that I have great-grandmothers on both the maternal and paternal sides of my family. Maternal side names are Miller/Crain and Paternal side is Harmon or Harman. The maternal side reisded in Louisianna and there is a Blackfoot connection there (somewhere). On the paternal side Harmon/Harman there is a Cherokee connection. The Harmon/Harman family is from Oklahoma and Missouri. My great-grandfather was P.F. Harmon who was a baptist minister and founded over 40+ Baptist churches in the OK/Mo area. Does anyone have any further information where I can make some identifications with any of this information? This will be especially helpful for my son who is in need of making specific connections for his lineage percentages for college.

Rabbit--I know that the Harmon name (in its various spellings) is a Lenape name from Delaware. The Delaware Indians or Lenapes from Delaware were moved to Oklahoma before 1850. There is Lenape information on the web--my family is a part of this group. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Miller is a hard name to trace because it's kind of a common name. There are Millers from the South Carolina area. The names I have are Laura Miller who is full blood and mother Elizabeth. Many uncles baring the name Miller and Bradley. The names are Luck, Buck, Lightning. They are related by marriage to the Johnson's and Boykins of Camden, South Carolina. The Boykins are on Eastern Cherokee rolls. Although the family I am related to are from South Carolina, many of the family members moved between Oklahoma on further West in the early 1900's for some reason. The more adventurous men jumped trains and travelled all over the place. Some folks didn't have birth certificates. I'd look in the area where the people in your family lived the longest. You may have to go there personally. Best of luck and best of luck to your son in college. Leesa

Rabbit--There is a new post here concerning the Harmon family and Blackfoot relationship. Please check this out.

Also, have you taken a look at this site regarding Lenape family research in DE. Harmon is a common name here.
