Anybody researching their Cherokee roots or just interested in reading a great site. This appears to be a brand new site.

COLLINS, ARLINE - I have some COLLINS ancestors from Nansemond Co, and wonder if you have any info that could help me. My ancestor Graham COLLINS was born in Nansemond Co abt. 1805. He married Nansey ARLINE in 1821 (b. 1800) in not-far-away Gates Co, NC. His kids are Elijah, Hugh, Hester, Jerusha, and Nanetta. In my research, I have not found too many Collins, and my main focus right now is to find Graham's parents. So far the only Collins that are candidates are Thomas, David, and William. I think that Graham had a brother Elvy, born 1806.

howdy --

I recall a "Griffin" or a "Griffith" was somehow related to my great-great-grandparents -- surnamed "Brown" in or near Powhatan, Arkansas, or someone with that surname was mentioned on a legal document of some kind and we never heard that surname as related to us, and were wondering how we were related to them. This would have been in the early 1800s.

Also I noticed a mention to Darren's web-site (ComancheLodge). He lives out in West Texas a hundred or so miles (I think) west of me. I'm in SW Oklahoma. He's a good guy I think and has a lot of knowledge about genealogy, both Comanche/Kiowa and Chickamaugan. If anyone does have Old Settler Cherokee or Chickamaugan ancestors -- he knows more than just about anyones, either, just to get you on his side like some groups will so you'll join their "tr. And he won't lead you down blind alleyibe", the one they just made up.

I'd highly recommend him.
