Hello all,

I was driving on Hwy 58 near Courtland this weekend and I noticed the sign is up pointing the way to the 5th Annual Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Pow Wow. It is scheduled for July 22, 23. My wife and I are planning to attend and we were wondering if anyone on the forum is planning to go. If so, we would love to meet you.

Thanks,

Dan

Hey Erica,

I know what you mean. I had been planning to attent the Occaneechi Pow Wow but I had a conflict and couldn't make it. If you can go let me know.

Ken and I have it on our agenda to go. It's not too far away from our home and a good getaway. We usually meet up with several from the forum while we are there.

Great! My wife and I look forward to meeting you. How do you identify members of the forum? I am guessing you guys have a system by now.

Also, Chief Red Hawk of the Cheroenhaka was on one of the local TV stations this week. You can see it at http://wavy.com/Global/SearchResults.asp?qu=red+hawk but I don't know how long it will stay on the site.

Thanks,

Dan

Well, me and my old goat are pretty recognizable...actually, we usually meet up with Linda and meet the others...well, some are recognized by their avitars, too. We will probably have our Flat River Gravefinders hats on if the sun is as bad this year as it was last year.

I heard the interview with Walt...my computer wouldn't download the video. I love the little city of Courtland...we always stay at the local motel and eat at the local places. And also looking forward to the pow wow in Suffolk Aug. 19th.

Well, I must say this weekend was a fantastic pow wow!! Linda, sorry you missed it. Jade, was glad to see you again. The weather cooperated and the spirits were high. We got to meet new people, hug the old friends and break bread with them, and plan our next getaway.

I'm so sorry I missed it. I just wasn't up to it. I heard it was a great pow wow. My daughter went and had a great time.

Hope you are feeling better now....maybe you can make the Nansemond? We hope to attend that one. We did see that some of your kids made it to the pow wow. Lone Wolf, did you make it to the pow wow? I did get to meet Jade's brother and cousin....a couple of fun guys.

The Pow wow was good...my first time there, I was the only male fancy dancer...that was alright, I had a blast!

Yeah, I seem to remember seeing you about midafternoon on Sunday. Did you get there in time to see the smokedancers? There were 3 of them. That was interesting...I had not seen them before. I think one of their names was Mike Dunn....and his son. It was a good pow wow...and the weather held out, for which I am very grateful. Are you going to Nansemond?

Becky,

I'm sorry I didn't answer sooner but the monitor on my p.c. went out.

My wife and I did make it to the Pow Wow. We met with some of our old friends and we really enjoyed being there. It was hot but it could have been alot worse. Sorry we missed you all.

Dan,
Becky and I sit in chairs near the east gate with the couple wearing cowboy hats. .... what time we weren't socializing with some of the vendors and dancers. Was there anything distinctive about your party that we might remember?

I was there Sat/Sun...I drum with EB; I may make it to Nansemond, but I got orders to go to Iraq. Nottoway may have been my last Powwow before I leave

Well, we certainly enjoyed hearing you...and all 4 drums playing at the same time was just awesome...I just could not keep still. I hope you will be blessed to make it to Nansemond....and I will say prayers for you as you serve your country...another reason to dance the Veteran's dance beside Mike and Jeannie's son...to honor all our young people that serve.

I was glad to see Patrick dance again. He has become a good friend to us over the last few months....had a chance to talk with him at Reidsville.

Becky,

We are pretty average looking so you may not have noticed us.

I am about 6'2", brown hair and I was wearing jeans but if anything was distinctive it was the white denim shirt with two large feathers embrodered on the right front. It also has native trim on the pockets and collar. I was also wearing a burgundy Virginia Tech cap at times. My wife was wearing a choker necklace and feathers in her hair. She's about 5'7" and was wearing black sandals.

If you can remember us from that description I will indeed be impressed.;)

Actually, we are going to try to add an avatar.

Thanks,

Dan

Thank you for your prayers.....I am thankful for being part of the EB family and look forward to being on the trail again when i come back....when all for drums were drumming that was indeed a blessing.

I vaguely remember seeing the shirt. But, nope, even looking back at my pics, I can't seem to find you. Should have made an impression though, if all your wife was wearing was necklace, feathers and sandals....at least Ken should have remembered her..LOL. Ok, may be we will meet you in Nansemond...or Williamston.
