So far, Where do most of the familys on this site originate from? I know everyone is still researching, but I was wondering what everyones guess of roots (The state they have found to be origin at this point) I figured it would help show areas . If this a puzzle everyone is putting together. Thought someone might find useful imfo. My family seems to have stayed all over N.C,
But I located some that moved to Fla. after Civil War and the others went to
Texas, Fla,Va, and one as far as Arkansaw, but mainly eveyone stayed in the eastern part of N.C I have found some records referring to Shallot Swamp the family owned acres there in the 1700,s.

My family seems to have bounced in and out of NC, KY, VA, and later WV. This would be Gibson, Thomas, Adkins, Baldwin, and Shortridge surnames, some others I am unsure of their origin.

Our NA family so far, originated in North Carolina (some records say maybe S.Carolina) then migrated to Tennessee, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska and from there to several points. Tom's branch went to Canada and my branch came out West. These would be the Harding (Hardin or Harden) and Carey lines.

So far, seems like most families here originated in N. C.

Lynne , Where do your Robbins come from I have a lot of them all the way back to the 1500s, but I also posted other surnames. It seems back when they had alot of children per family.

Hi Lentz,

I guess I must not have quoted that post very well. To my knowledge there is no Robbins in my line...though I admit that I don't know a lot about my line.
It was the name Smith that I jumped on. I also have Shaw, Hux, Green, and Bass.
Regards,
Lynne
