I have been trying to research a family line named Black. I have been told by several widespread people that my connection to this line is believed to have been Blackfoot indian. Apparently there were several individuals named Black who fled to MO during the removal times, but were not cherokee...the family stories claim Blackfoot indian. I have also been told that many of the MO Black families eventually moved on down into IT/OK and from there eventually migrated up to Alberta CA. Other names associated with this family line, Brown, Bowen, and Brookshire, can also be found in Alberta with the Blacks.
If the Blacks are Blackfoot, do you have a ball park guess where they might have originated.... I am having difficulty figureing out were my ancestor's family migrated from. I have seen a possible beginning point with some Black and Fox lines in Ohio...truly grasping at straws here. Any ideas?
