I was wondering if anyone was familiar with some of the following place names. I don't yet know anything specific about them, but thought it might be interesting to know how or when they got their names. These locations were gleaned from a search the USGS site.
Blackfoot (a town), Phillips Co., AR
Blackfoot Branch (a stream) and Blackfoot Hollow (a valley), both in McDonald Co., MO
Blackfoot School, Laclede Co., MO
Blackfoot Church, Pike Co., IN (I think this one has been discussed on the forum?)
Atchley-Blackfoot Cemetery, Laclede Co., MO
Blackfoot (a town), Anderson, TX
Blackfoot Cemetery, Coryell Co., TX
Blackfoot Creek (stream), Appomattox Co., VA (I'm pretty sure I've seen this discussed already, too?)
Dagsboro, Delaware (Blackfoot Town) also comes up, but I know that's been discussed extensively here. Maybe these others have been, as well, but I'm not sure. These places were pretty much the only ones that were outside of Montana and neighboring regions associated with the Western Blackfoot. Interestingly, a search for the variation "BlackFEET", rather than "BlackFOOT", shows no locations outside of Montana incorporating that name.
