Hello to all of you!

I have read all that I can on the information on
the capes. Thank you for the input. My friend put up
the names of the books I have two images of Turkey
Feather capes in but I am having a horrible time putting
them up on this site. I had my sister-inlaw try and she
did not know how eather. If any of you know please tell
me. I have them on Picture It software.

Im part Creek of the WInd Clan out of Alabama.
And Im working on my new regalia for the pow-wows.
In our area its intertribal so I see many different styles.
But I have never seen a Turkey Feather Cape short or
long. My good friend who is Lenni-Lenape was a Museum
Curator told me that the feather capes were Turkey hide
woven into a mesh. It was worn by the wemon and the
elderly in the winter to keep warm. Was not heavy on
them but yet warm. Proof of these were found in caves
along with artifacts. They cut the hides starting in the
center of the turkey out to the edge, like a cinnamon roll
pattern, then they wove it into the mesh.

If you know of any one that sells turkey hides please let
me know. Might want to try this. but for now I think I will
work on a suggestion my friend made. Take a feather bowa
that you can buy at the material store and try to weave it
through the mesh. Then add feathers to it from the turkey,
tieing them in discriminatly. Not the big ones unless you want
to cut them down.

It may work! In Washington I do not get a chance to see my
people at the pow-wows much. while I have been here I have
only seen one man with a turban, and one with turkey feather
bussels. No wemon at all unless they are in calico materials or
the Seminole,
(some were lower Creeks that became Seminoles) patchwork which is quite beautiful. And the patchwork came from us origonally.

Well let me know on the turkey hides. looking forward to more
info. May Breathe Giver Be with you.
