Becky (Mousini) and I usually attend and plan to attend this saturday. We go to see people that we haven't seen all winter. The presentation and co-ordination is sometimes disappointing but it's the first one of the year and we need to hear the drum ;-)

Saloli..are you planning to attend the School of Science and Math pow wow? We have several family members who wish to attend and begin learning more about pow wows since our wedding last year included The Two Step. I agree about the presentation, mainly because I have a problem with people disrespecting the circle and the drum...and it is noisy. But, you do get to see some interesting regalia and see many that we haven't seen since the Homecoming last year.

Well, the wintry weather didn't stop the Pow Wow at the NCSSM on Saturday. It did end up being a rather good pow wow...the crowd was down to a manageable lot. The food was good...and the emcee was better than last year. It was nice to see all the young people participating...and know that the traditions do go on. There was still some disrespect of the circle (cell phones??) but I guess exposing the young ones to culture and tradition takes some bending of the rules. But, will be looking forward to one held outside in warmer weather....the next one on my list in March 11 at Hardeeville, SC.
