The earliest documented record I have on my ggggrandfather is when he enlisted in Fincastle Co. 1776 to the company of Captain James McDaniel's. It is believed from later tax and census records that his age at that time was 16 years. He entered the same day and same district as George, David and Lewis Collins , believed to be related to old Thomas Collins who sold land on Pumunkey River in 1747 and moved to Granville Co. NC( later Orange Co. NC)On this record it gives his name as "Meridia". Later records use the first name of Meredith.

Brenda, I am SO happy to see you hear. I hope things are going well, I know your family is going through tough times. You all have been in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm honored to have your input, and believe me, anything from your research that you'd care to have published, just dump on me, I'll bet you have some great stuff we can archive permanently.
