The Cheraw is the modern form of that name. They were one of the Siouan tribes. A lot of them went to the Catawba.

Has anyone else had a problem getting the maps to print??
No matter what I do I only get the left side of each of those maps to print.
My folks came from Ashe County too......New River, but I don't know the names of any towns.

I am having no problem pulling up the site with the maps but I also tryed to print the maps and could only get the western half of the state. I am not a computer whiz so perhaps there is somebody that knowes what we have to do to set our printers to print the image with the paper sideway...it might not even fit that way.
I liked the map because it marks the Indian Villages with little teepee signs where the villages were located.
