Howdy Lee --

I am interested in/ curious about -- the Monacan, thanks for that report. My Woods/Hamilton ancestors once lived at a place called "Mount Miserable" -- not a very appealing name :( -- in Rockbridge County. Also just rcently found more evidence my Richey's very well might have been in Augusta County -- and there was a FPC Solomon Richey in Amherst County -- so I am interested in the Monocan.

Have you ever heard of it?

Greetings Vance

No i do not know much about them has well as the other eastern
tribes i went there trying to maybe find a lead on my 5th grandma
Aggy Owl she was in that area married Moses Damron they were
in Scottsville on the James River.

Chief Brandham gave me the name and number of there genealogyist her name is Diane Shields 540-946-7785 give her
a call she we be able to help you on anything to do with that
tribe.

I am Cherokee and have study them alot but just learning about
the eastern tribes because the Damron's married into several
of the surnames such as Goins-Day-Bass-and more they didn't
say there were blackfoot they said they were Black Dutch.

One other thing Vance how come ever time i post that post
attaches itself below this post can you fix that?

I posted this once, but it seems to have vanished. The Owle surname occurs among the Eastern Band Cherokee today.

Thanks Lee.

You sound like me -- Cherokee mixed with Eastern Piedmont.

Are you farmiliar with Eastern Cherokee in NC? Someone once posted on another board that at one time a band of Euchee lived with the NC Cherokee but didn't feel welcome so they left to live on Newman's Ridge.

I don't know how to confirm that story. his would have happened I don't know, mabe 100 years ago, not long enough ago to acount for the origina of the Melungeons, but they might have mixed with them later. I am skeptical of such stories until I find a document confirming them as i have seen way too much faked history on the intrnet.

You might ask Linda about how to get th computer to not post that same comment about your "Owl" ancestor, every time you post. She can probably fix it.

Nope, sorry, I don't know how to fix it. We need to upgrade and pay up on our expired license for some support. I need to put up a pay pal button like we talked about to see who'll chip in for the $80 or so yearly license.

Thought I should change the name of this post so the individual looking for Aggie Owl could find it.
