I have often heard this term in old books and colonial records, often speaking of clothing capes etc.
A freind of mine often speaks of the plants and animals that we no longer have, like the jaguar and moose in the Georgia stae area, sounds odd but there's much to the mystery! SOP
Anyway here's something that I have came across that I really have enjoyed!
Anyway check out a bird called the "ocellated Turkey" a bird that may have been north of it's range today!.

That is an incredibly beautiful turkey. I hate to think of it being shot, but then, I'm also thinking how nice it would be to have feathers like that to work into regalia. And they would be legal.

Just refreshing here, this turkey is a very rare bird today but most likely either the feathers or live birds were traded into the southwest and points farther east.
I have a "SMALL" line on some of these and may have some available.

I've seen wild turkeys in the woods behind my house, from my kitchen window. I wonder what variety they were.

That is my favorite species of Turkey. I have a desk top picture of one from Mexico.
Thanks for info. Tom.

Well iam not sure waht the species would be Linda in your area but you should check it out.
The ocellated variety is really beautiful and recently I recieved several feathers , the interesting thing is that they are nearly weightless, just right for ancient people to move around for trade enmasse.

That is a good looking bird.

If that boy keeps it up, there won't be any left! (he can take the alligators though) :D
