Bill and anyone who may be of help!!!
I have tons of info on the Allen familes of Hanover, Henrico and New kent Co's Va..but little on my direct line..
Joseph is my direct ancestor married to Sarah Hunt.
Joseph born 4-11-1711 a twin to Benjamin.
Children I have are :
Memucan Hunt Allen born 1753
Benjamin born Circa 1755
Robert 1757
charles 1759
Ann b 1761
Jean (Jane) b 1763
Susannah
Most born in New Kent co.
First of all I found a website that gives the dates of these children born earlier and another that gives the dates I have.
Memucan would be my direct line.
Am i missing a generation?
Joseph is in records with Ralph Hunt father to Sarah and his will was probated in Charlotte co va 1772 but I have never seen it.
I have no info on any siblings as to who they married etc.
Keep looking and never find anything.
I have most all of the marriages of Joseph's siblings,
Drury born 1714
William Hunt born 1709
etc.
I believe Joseph may have married more than once.
Do you have anything Bill?

There is a website that does give the date of Joseph Allen's will in charlotte co VA as Oct 8 1770 and recorded July 1 1772 listing the exact same children as my previous post...that looks like a good start.

Sue,

In the link you posted on the Gentry's, is that Allen one of your's? It is, right? Lynella.

Lynella,
As I read through the part of the journal on Samuel II married to Ann. It looks like even the author is not positive about Ann because of no date of birth or death. But he seems to think her name probably was Allen because of son Allen and later connections to the Allen family. Richard Allen had land on the Chickahominy and my Allens were definately in New Kent..Joseph born in 1711 and father Robert born 1675. I think Richard is his father. Richard died in 1725. The name Reynold comes in to this Allen family later on too. The journal mentions David, Wm and Reynold going to NC with David Gentry I think. I have to read further. But I know very little about who Robert's siblings were or uncles, aunts, etc. But to me the reoccurance of the names over and over indicates something.
I am lost in these Allens when you start looking at all of them.

Sue,

:) This is all so way cool! I know what you mean about getting lost. I'm always lost with these names untill I sit and just study them for hours! But, it's so worth it!:) Love & Light, Lynella.

Bill,
I have found more on the Allen families.
This is same I placed on the Gentry thread just now.

There are other names within this...I proceed with caution as to all children being exactly right and not possibly being a child of a son instead etc. but there are at least deeds, etc. which helps the credibility.
