My gggrandmother was Eliza Kornegay. She was born Jan 12, 1816 in Duplin Co. NC. Her father was Isaac Kornegay b April 15, 1766, died March 29, 1838. My Dad always called her Black Dutch but found out later she was Saponi. Found out from the descendants of Eliza. that her father had an Indian household worker and my Eliza was fathered by him and the Indian girl.
Elizabeth later married an Ezell and moved to Mississippi. She is buried there in Aberdeen. She had 3 girls by the Ezell.
Eliza was married to a Winders first. There were 4 girls born from the Winders and two brothers. I have written to a descendant from the Kornegay side and a descendant of the boy, James Thaddeus.
Well, I don't why I told you all of this. Maybe you could give me some insight some way. Sincerely, Arver

Welcome Arver. My gggrandmother may also have been part Saponi. She was born in Iowa.
How would you like us to help you? Do you need population lookups? Do you need information? Bill is kind enough to help with population lookups. He moderates the genealogy forum but always checks out other forums also. You might want to read the article called "The Other Blackfoot." You might also search the entire forum for your names. I do not recognize the name, but that does not mean that it has not been mentioned here or another form of it.
Welcome and let us know how we can help you.

I am hoping you are still online in this forum. I am interested in the Winders' marriage for Eliza since I have a Winders with an unknown first wife, and at least six children born to that union. I would like to compare notes.

That's the only post he/she ever made, I just sent an email to the address in our database to see if it bounces back.
