Just a thought. I know there's always a reaction that someome who has a relatively small strain of Native blood from way back is "odd" to be pursuing it with any degree of ardor, but there's another way to look at it.

If it's been, say, 400 years since folks in your family went through a holocaust, and they went into the next world relying on those still here to honor them, then it's been a LONG time they've been waiting.

It's kind of like in homeopathy, where the strongest medicines have the least active ingredients. The longer your ancestors have been neglected and waiting for attention, the more urgent it is, the more that will rush from those floodgates.

Hi Linda,
A simple Amen to your post! http://winwinworld.net/SaponiForum/UBB/smile.gif You have made a good point, I'm glad someone has come out & spoke about a topic that needs attention, thanks. I don't use the term "Blood", just Indian ancestry. As I have said to many a person, "No one can just be related to one American Indian, as they had parents too!" A simple statement, but very effective when you are faced with the question of, "well how much American Indian are you"? I went to the hospital today, as I had a very bad fall, & the x-ray tech. said "has anyone ever wanted to cut your hair"? I want to get a tee shirt made up that reads, "I'm Indian, no I'm not going to ever cut my hair". http://winwinworld.net/SaponiForum/UBB/smile.gif Also it's only been since the 1940's that my family was a target of Plecker, on paper & by means of sterilization.
Take care & God Bless

Hey all, well the hair thing still haunts people, rather weird that some one would want to do this(cut some one else's hair) perhaps you should ask them if they'd like to be sterilized!
Enjoy the Summer, Tom.

Hello Tom,
Good point you made, next time someone says anything about my hair I will ask them that very question! http://winwinworld.net/SaponiForum/UBB/smile.gif When I was attending Jr. High School, two girls would push me down to the ground before class. It was a campus style school, so I was always outside waiting for the teacher to arrive. No one ever saw how I was treated. I never spoke a word, just picked up my books & stood back up. One day, between classes I was in the ladies room, I overheard these same two girls talking of their plan to cut off all of my hair that day. They had no clue that I was in there, so I opened the stall door & went up to the sink where they stood. I took out my hair brush, & brushed my hair as I have never brushed it before. I spoke not a word. They just stood there in silence, & then they left. Later that day they attacked me as I rounded the corner, they did their best to spray deodorant in my eyes. I moved the right way & was able to not get injured. They however this time were not alone as a group of people were cheering them on. Tom, I want to thank you for caring. http://winwinworld.net/SaponiForum/UBB/smile.gif
Sincerely,
