Hi,
I am new to the forum.
I am another one of those people whose father said there was Native American on his side of our family but noone wanted to talk about it. He looked as if he was part Indian and I have always been told I do.
On my father's side there were many Allens. This line was in Va early. Richard Allen had land on the Chickahominy Swamp in 1717. Richard born in Northampton, died in Hanover Co, Va where Robert was born. Robert married Elizabeth Walker...Robert born in 1675 in Hanover Co, Va..died in Heinrico Co.
Children were William Hunt Allen, Drury Allen (together they bought land in 1758 in Granville Co, NC. Drury married elizabeth Tinsley, died in 1803 in Person Co. Had land in Person co on The south fork of Flat river, 1786,
Other children of robert and elizabeth...Joseph who remained in Va..died in Charlotte Va..Will in 1771. He died then before 1780 but by then all of these allen children had left Va.
Joseph had a twin Benjamin. No one has found much on him but I did find a Benjamin in Granville co NC in tax list of 1760. Benjamin and Joseph born 4-11-1711.
Other children, Agnes Allen married Joseph Pullium..
Robert Jr. married elizabeth Young.
There were also Richard, Judah, Anne, Jacoaby and Margaret..Robert was married twice later to a Sarah..
My direct ancestor is Joseph.. and I have all of his children. Joseph married Sarah Hunt daughter of Ralph hunt and dina Anderson. Ralph born Sept. 18 1693 nansemond Co. Va and dina born 1703 in Lunenburg co Va. Ralph and Dina also had son memucan Hunt who is found in Granville. Joseph and Sarah had a son Memucan Hunt Allen who is my ancestor. Memucan I assume was named for his uncle Memucan Hunt. Memucan Hunt Allen went with his brother Charles to NC and Charles had land on Castle Creek in Caswell co 1778. memucan Allen was in Ky in early 1800's. Franklin Co., later Anderson Co. died in 1833.
Other surnames I have in my direct line are Stott, which is another story. Stotts were in Lancaster Co. 1783 tax lists and in Va in the 1600's..connected to Osborn's and Allen's later.
Any connections out there?
Thanks, Saj

Welcome to the forum, Sue.
You've quite a bit of family history already. Several of the surnames you've mentioned have been listed here before - same areas, don't know if they connect. Try the "search" button up at the top right, above the white line, and see what you can find.

Welcome SAJ, glad you found your way here. My cousin has Allen's in his NA line, from one of those eastern counties of Virginia.

Memucan is an odd name. It doesn't sound at all Biblical or Anglo Saxon. Wonder what the story is behind that.

Welcome saj---There is a Joe Pulliam buried not far from Dreaminghawk's house...we saw it not long ago. I will be glad to go and look at the dates for you. And I can also look in the Heritage Book of Person County for those names. Becky
